About Your Hosts

After living and travelling all over Scotland for 25 years, my family and I found beautiful Argyll and fell in love with its secret beaches and never ending hills and mountains.   We were lucky enough to find a late 18th Century, former Dairy Farmhouse with a courtyard of derelict barns. Wanting to share our beautiful area, we renovated one of the Byres and have loved hosting guests from all over the world for the last 6 years.

Argyll has so much to offer everyone. Near to Glasgow and Edinburgh to be able to make a day trip and a great base to access many islands, but far enough away to feel remote and really in the wild.  Our two kids have had such a fortunate childhood with endless amounts of freedom to roam and explore.  We have had all sorts of animals and wildlife as pets and are surrounded by amazing wildlife and scenery on our doorstep and regularly see Red Squirrel and Pine Martins in our garden and White-Tailed or Golden Eagles soaring overhead. Dolphins, porpoises, whales, and otters are all spotted nearby. Our regular family trip is to one of the Outer Hebridean Islands to snorkel alongside Basking Sharks.  We grow our own vegetables and keep hens for meat and eggs.

My background is in Property Renovation and Interior Design and I am passionate about transforming an unloved house or room into a thing of beauty that compliments its surroundings.  Fyne Byre was created being as eco-friendly as we could with what we used to build and furnish.  Using sustaniable materials and recycling almost every peice of furniture. The colours and decor reflect the area and give our guests a unique experience but with added comfort and thoughtful touches.

The main income source in Argyll and probably Scotland, is tourism and we are lucky enough to have many worldwide visitors.  Our philosophy is to help others and with that in mind we like to provide information to our visitors on great places to visit during their stay.  Argyll has a great community and we all support each other.  We have an amazing food scene from fantastic wild venison to the freshest of fish.  Award winning restaurants, botanical gardens and loads of activities and watersports.  Please look at the "see and do page".

Whilst working alongside many operators in the area I realised there was a gap in the market for someone to help others achieve great letting accommodation.  Being only and hour and a half away from Glasgow, many people buy a property in Argyll for their holidays but want to let it for the rest of the year.  With my experience and contacts I could offer them a full service of letting and managing their property so that they could just enjoy the weeks they stayed.  We started up a cleaning company "Highland Bling" that runs alongside the letting business.  I have a team of tradespeople on hand and can now offer my clients a whole package to run their properties as I do my own.

Unlike the larger holiday letting companies I can choose the properties I wish to feature and work with.  They must offer something that I believe our guests with enjoy, be it the amazing view over the Loch or a mountain. A hot tub to relax in after a long day of hiking or paddle-boarding to a spacious family friendly living room with cosy log fire.  I only pick properties that I have stayed in and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  My must list is a comfortable bed, immaculately clean, great location, tranquil and somewhere to make memories that will last forever.... and making sure the guest wants to come back again and again.... x
